
The Lackawanna Trail girls' basketball team dropped a 44-30 decision at home to Montrose on Friday but took a commanding 51-23 victory over Susquehanna at home on Wednesday.
On Friday, Montrose and the Lions tied the game up at six after the first quarter, but saw the Meteors lead 16-14 at the half after Montrose made a 10-8 run in the second.
After halftime, Trail continued to fall behind as Montrose led the way 15-8 in the third quarter, and capped off the win over the Lions with a 13-8 fourth.
Trail was led by Alyssa Sunseri with 15 points while Lauren Ellsworth chipped in seven points and Brianna Smarkusky had six.
Against the Sabers, first quarter action saw Susquehanna lead the Lady Lions 8-6, but in the second quarter Trail gained momentum and outscored the Sabers 23-10 to lead 29-18 at the half.
After the break, the Lady Lions continued to dominate as they went 17-4 over Susquehanna in the third, and 5-1 in the fourth to take the victory.
Lauren Ellsworth scored 16 points while Smarkusky added 12 and Katie Ross added 10 for Trail.
